Quilt Wizard: Binding Tab

The Quilt Binding feature adds a binding to the quilt and calculates how many inches of binding you'll need for the quilt.

1. To add a binding, click on the Quilt Menu and then click on Layout to open the Quilt Wizard. Click on the Binding tab.

1. Select the binding type that you want. See below for more information on the binding types.

1. Select the width of the binding. IMPORTANT! The width of the binding you select is the width of the finished binding. Take the quilt's seam allowances into account when you select the binding width.

1. When you have set-up your binding, Perfect Quilt will tell you how many inches of binding you will need.

Note: When you click the Finish Button to create the quilt, Perfect Quilt will not show you the binding on the quilt. Perfect Quilt will report the binding on Yardage Calculations. You will get binding information when you print a Quilt Information sheet on your quilt.

Binding Types

Straight Binding: a binding cut with the grain and applied to the edge without folding in half. The binding measurements allow an extra 12 inches overall for mitered corners.

French Binding: a binding cut on straight grain and folded in half before applying to the edge. The binding measurements allow an extra 12 inches overall for mitered corners.

Bias Binding: a binding cut on the bias. When you choose bias binding, Perfect Quilt will tell you how many bias strips to cut. Cut on the bias grain and applied to the edge without folding in half. The binding measurements allow an extra 12 inches overall for mitered corners.

No Binding: removes the binding from the quilt.
