Copy

You can copy or cut patches from one Perfect Quilt file to another. You can also cut or copy patches to the Windows Clipboard in order to paste them into other programs.

To Copy or Cut Patches

1. Open an existing file or draw patches.

1. Select the patches you wish to copy or cut.

1. Select Copy or Cut from the Edit Menu. (or CTRL+C for Copy or CTRL+X for Cut)

1. Open the Perfect Quilt file that you want to paste the patches into. If you are copying to another program, open the receiving program.

1. Open the Edit Menu and select Paste. (or CTRL + V)

TIP: Paste Bitmaps or Vectors? When you copy patches to another program, you will copy a bitmap of the patches unless the program accepts vector files. For example, patches copied into Windows Paint will be bitmaps. Patches copied into Corel Draw will be vectors. To be certain that you import vectors, you will need to export the patches as a Windows metafile.

What is a Vector File?

A vector file displays shapes such as rectangles as mathematically calculated lines. A bitmap file displays shapes as tiny dots called pixels. In a vector file, you can change the size of a shape without losing any quality. When you change the size of a shape in a bitmap file, you lose image quality. All Perfect Quilt files are vector files. However, fabric fills in Perfect Quilt are bitmaps.
