Pen and Brush Settings
Use the Pen and Brush Settings Box to change the appearance of the patch outline (pen) and the patch brush. The brush is the same as a fill pattern and can be a color, a fabric or no fill. You can change just the Pen settings, the Brush settings or both.
The Pen/Brush Settings Box has a sample area to preview your selections.
Change Pen
1. Select Pen/Brush Settings from the Options Menu.
1. At Pen Type, click the dropbox and select a Pen Type.
1. At Pen Width, click the down arrow and select from number 1 to 5.
1. To change the pen color, click the Pen Color Button and then click on the desired color. You will then return to the Pen/Brush Settings Dialog Box.
1. When you have made your selections, click the OK Button to return to the Work Area. The Status Bar will show your pen selections.
Change Brush
1. Select Pen/Brush Settings from the Options Menu.
1. At Brush Type, click the dropbox and select a Brush Type.
1. If you select solid or fabric as the Brush Type, click on the Brush Color Button. You can select from any color in the Color Palette or any fabric in the Fabric Palette as the brush. If you select Null, you do not need to select a color or fabric.
1. Click the OK Button to return to the Work Area. The Status Bar will show your brush selections.
Tip: Use Brush Settings Only for Null Brushes
It's easier to change a solid filled patch to a fabric filled patch (and vice-versa) by using the Paint Tool. The only time you need to use the Pen/Brush Setting Dialog Box to paint patches is to change the Brush Fill Setting to Null.
Special Effects with Pens and Brushes
There are many different effects that you can achieve by varying the pen and brush styles.
• Choose None as the Pen Type when you do not want any lines around your patches.
• Choose the dotted or dashed Pen Types to represent cutting or sewing lines.
• Choose dashed pen type for seam lines around foundation blocks.
• Choose Dashed line for quilt stencils.
