Polyline Tool ![]()
Use the Polyline Tool to draw multiple connected lines. The Polyline is useful for tracing and for drawing irregular shapes. You can join a polyline together to make a closed shape.
To Draw a Polyline
1. Click the mouse on the Polyline Tool to select it.
1. The cursor becomes a cross.
1. Place the mouse on the grid where you want to start the line.
1. Hint: to line up the line exactly on the grid, click on the Snap to Grid Tool.
1. Drag the mouse to draw a line segment. Click the mouse when you want to start a new segment.
1. Release the mouse button to finish.
Convert a Polyline into a Curve
You can convert any polyline into a curve: Here's how:
1. Draw a polyline
1. Click on the Reshape Tool and then click on the polyline to show the points.
1. Click the right mouse button on the polyline and select Make Curve.
1. The polyline will now be a curve. See Reshaping Curves for instructions on how to change the curve.
Join a Polyline to Make a Closed Polygon
1. Draw a polyline
1. Click on the Select Tool and then click on the polyline to select it.
1. Click on the Effects Menu and click on Join.
1. Perfect Quilt will close the polyline into a polygon. See Reshape Tool to learn how to change the shape of the polygon
