Import Files

Use the Import command to import Windows metafiles. You cannot use the import command to cut or copy objects from other programs. Perfect Quilt does not accept copied or cut objects from other programs.

When you import a metafile, you convert the shapes, and lines in the metafile into Perfect Quilt patches.

To Import a Metafile

1. Open a new empty drawing window. You place the metafile into this drawing window. To create an empty drawing window, click on the File Menu, then click on New and then click on Block.

1. Open the File Menu again and click on Import.

1. Select a metafile to import.

1. Click the Open Button.

1. You are now ready to use the metafile. You can make changes to the metafile-generated shapes, which are now Perfect Quilt patches. You can then save the metafile as a Perfect Quilt block file.

TIP: If you cannot see the metafile image right away, you may need to adjust the size of the image. Select Resize To from the Effects Menu and set the desired size.

What is a metafile?

The import metafile feature is designed to import simple line drawings from other drawing programs such as Corel Draw, Freehand and Illustrator. The metafile is a vector format and it is not suitable for importing scanned images from magazines.
