Scanning Wizard

It's easy to scan fabrics,.photographs and other images with the Scanning Wizard. The Scanning Wizard takes you through each step in the scanning process and then places your fabrics or photos into the Perfect Quilt Fabric or Photo Library for easy access.

To open the Scanning Wizard

Click on the File Menu and select Scan Image. Perfect Quilt will open the Scanning Wizard.

To Use the Scanning Wizard

The Scanning Wizard has four tabs to guide you through the scanning process. As you scan images, you will see thumbnails of the image on the right side of the scanning wizard.

Scan What Tab

In this tab, you indicate what kind of image you want to scan. The kind of image you choose will determine where Perfect Quilt will place the scanned image. For example, fabrics will go to the fabric library and photos will go to the photo library.

Scan Tab

In the Scan Tab, you will do your actual scanning. To begin scanning, click on the Scan Now tab. Perfect Quilt will connect to your scanner and start up your scanning software. You will need to follow the directions for your particular scanner. Once you have scanned your image, you can click the edit button to call-up Paintbrush (or another installed photo-editing program) to edit your image.

Note: if you have more than one scanner installed, click on the Select Scanner Button to choose a scanner.

Where to Save Tab

The Where to save tab directs where you want to save your scanned image. If you selected Fabrics in the Scan What tab, then Perfect Quilt will automatically place the scanned fabrics into "My Library/Fabrics."

Type a name for your image and choose the file type. For most fabrics and photos, .bmp is a good choice. If you want to display or work with your image on a website, then choose .jpg.

What Next Tab

The What Next Tab lets you either make another scan or choose a different type of image to scan. For example, if you scanned one fabric and you want to scan another, click on the Scan Another Button. If you want to change to scanning photos, then click on the Start a New Scan Session button. When you are finished scanning, click on the Close Button.

Finding Scanned Images

To find images that you have scanned, open the appropriate Library and find the "My Fabrics", "My Photos", etc folder. Your images will be waiting for you.
