Quilt Wizard: Layout Tab

The Layout Tab in the Quilt Layout wizard is where you set the basic layout for your blocks. See below for info on Block Placement. Here are the layout settings:

• Straight: Blocks laid out in straight rows.

• Diagonal with Block in Corner: Blocks laid out in diagonal rows with a block in the corner. Click on "Allow Partial blocks in diagonal quilts" if you want to have the outside partial blocks filled. If this option is off, the outer blocks will be blank.

• Diagonal with Sash in Corner: Blocks laid out in diagonal rows with a sash in the corner. Click on "Allow Partial blocks in diagonal quilts" if you want to have the outside partial blocks filled. If this option is off, the outer blocks will be blank.

• Blocks on Point: Blocks turned on the diagonal, but laid out in straight rows. Each block has four triangles around it.

• Free Form: A blank layout. You can add blocks to the layout and move them wherever you wish. You can also make them any size you want.

• Baby Blocks: Squeezes Square or Rectangular blocks into diamond shapes and lays them out in a baby blocks pattern.

• Hexagonal Blocks: Lays out hexagonal blocks in a honey-comb pattern. There are two hexagonal layouts.

Block Placement

Use the Block Placement settings to make quilts with a single block, two alternating blocks, or sampler quilts. Here are the Block Placement choices:

• Single Block: repeats the same block throughout the quilt.

• Alternate Blocks: places two blocks in a "checkerboard" pattern.

• Sampler: Places one repeat of a block into a quilt. For example, if you have a quilt with 15 blocks, you can put 15 different blocks into the quilt with the Sampler setting.

• Sequence of Blocks: With this setting, blocks will repeat in a sequence that you set. For example, you can set up three blocks to repeat throughout the quilt. Depending on the number of blocks across, you can layout blocks in diagonal patterns or in straight rows.
