The Design Wall
Most of what you see in Perfect Quilt is the Design Wall. The blocks and quilts you create are on
the Design Wall. The Toolbar, Block Library and Fabric Library float on top of the Design Wall.
The Design Wall is covered with horizontal and vertical lines, just like graph paper. These lines
help you draw blocks and quilts. You can set the grid lines closer or further apart as you wish.
You can set Perfect Quilt to “snap” patches to the grid lines. Perfect Quilt has several special
drawing grids for creating circular, eight-point, and isometric blocks. See the Assistant for more
information.
Using the Ruler
The ruler runs along the top and left side of the Design Wall. Whenever you scroll, the ruler will
show your position on the Design Wall. You can get back to the “top” of the Design Wall by
clicking on the
Button in the upper left corner of the ruler.
Zooming In and Out
The concept of zooming in and out lets you “step back” from the Design Wall or “step-up” to
look at a block or quilt close up. The grid will stay the same size regardless of whether you are
zooming in or out. Practice zooming in and out to see how “close” or “far away” you can get to
the Design Wall.
At the top of the Perfect Quilt Screen, Perfect Quilt will tell you the percent of the zoom level.
For example, 100% is “actual size” and is the default zoom level. You can zoom down to 3% and
up to 1600%.
Click on the Zoom In Tool to “magnify” a quilt and look at it close-up. Click on the Zoom
In Tool once to double the zoom level up.
Click on the Zoom Out Tool to “step- back” and look at an entire quilt. Click on the Zoom
Out Tool once to double the zoom level down.
