Tips for Using the Template Wizard
Tips for Selecting the size of the Finished Block
• On this page, you select the finished size of the block. Do not include the seam allowance. The finished size does not have to match the original size of the block.
• Check the Keep Proportions Buttons to keep the horizontal and vertical measurements the same. To distort the block, click off Keep proportions and set different horizontal and vertical measurements. Any distortion you make in the settings will show in the preview that appears on the 2nd page of the wizard.
• If you're printing templates from a quilt, the size is determined by the quilt settings and you cannot change it.
Tips for Selecting Patches to Print
• In this page of the wizard, Perfect Quilt selects the templates. Perfect Quilt selects the unique patches so that you will not print duplicate patches. The template patches are red.
• If you want to add templates, click on the patch. To delete a template, click on the patch so that it is white. Only red patches will print templates.
• To select all of the patches for templates, click Select All. Click the Unselect All Button to unselect all of the patches. Click on the Unique Button to select unique patches.
Tips for Setting the Seam Allowance
• On the page of the Template Wizard, set the seam allowance.
• You can also set the page margins. You can also set two options: pause between pages when printing, and draw dashed lines for the seam allowance (the default is a dotted line.)
• You can also choose to preview templates by clicking the Preview Button.
• Click the Print Button to print templates on paper.
Tips for Adding Grainlines and Text
• Click the Label/Grain tab to add grainlines to templates. You can add grainlines only to patches that already have text on them. Click the Grainline button and draw a grainline on the patch.
• To change or move the text on a template, select the patch (it will turn blue) and then click the Text Moving enabled box. You can now click on the text in the patch and move it. Change the text in the Patch Label window.
